Photo Gallery | 56th Annual Central Alabama Fair going on now in Selma

On Monday evening the ribbon was cut by local officials to start the 56 Annual Central Alabama Fair. The fair is sponsored by the Selma Lions Club.

The club's mission is sight preservation. 90 % of all money raised by the fair each year goes to local charities and to the Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind. Funds are also used to pay for eye exams and eye glasses for the visually impaired who cannot afford to pay for them in the Selma and Dallas County area.

The Selma fair is one of the longest running exhibit fairs in Alabama. Thousands of dollars in prize money are given out and ribbons are given for the best jams and jellies, cakes, animals and the best singer s in the area.  Go out to the fair and support the Lions Club in their efforts of helping Central Alabama see better. The fair is on Dallas Avenue at the Old National Guard Armory.
