Three teens charged in drive by shooting | Crime

On December 19, 2012 at approximately 4pm officer were dispatched to the area of 4th Avenue and Lauderdale Street in reference to a shooting that just occurred. Upon their arrival they fine a 16 year old juvenile that had been shot in the left arm. The juvenile was transported to the local hospital for treatment. During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned that the victim was walking in the area with a friend when a Honda Accord being driven by a female later identified as Jakaira Smitherman drove into the area. As the vehicle drove through two b/ms inside of the vehicle later identified one as Clarence S. Brown and a 15 year old juvenile began shooting from the vehicle at the 16 year old victim. One bullet struck the victim in the arm and another struck a vehicle being driven by a 17 year old.

The investigation resulted in the arrest on December 20, 2012, of the following:

Clarence S. Brown age 17, but being charged as an adult, charges: Assault 1st Degree with a Firearm and Discharging a Firearm into an occupied Vehicle-bond $515,000

Jakaira J. Smitherman age 20, charges: Assault 1st Degree with a Firearm and Discharging a Firearm into an occupied Vehicle-bond $515,000

A black male juvenile age 15, charges:  Assault 1st Degree with a Firearm and Discharging a Firearm into an occupied Vehicle- Detention Pending Hearing
