SELMA, AL (WSFA) - Police have three suspects in custody for the Thursday afternoon shooting of a pregnant Selma teenager.

Selma Police say 16-year-old Shereka Suttles was shot in the head while sitting on her front porch. According to Selma Police Chief William Riley, suspects fired shots from a while SUV. Suttles heard the shots and was trying to make it back into the house to safety when she was struck. As of Friday afternoon, Suttles was listed in serious but stable condition at a local hospital.

Police later found the white SUV abandoned a few blocks away from the crime scene. Authorities arrested 21-year-old Demetrius Reese, 18-year-old Leroy Jackson Jr., and 34-year-old Jenorice E. Jones in connection with the crime.

Reese was charged with assault in the first degree and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Investigators believe he was responsible for shooting Suttles. Reese is being held on $30,000 bond. Jackson was charged with assault in the first degree for allegedly driving the getaway vehicle described as a white Ford Expedition. Jackson's bond was set at $15,000. Jones was charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. Her bond was set at $30,000.

Barring any complications, both Suttles and her unborn child are expected to make a full recovery. Selma Police say they are still investigating the circumstances around the shooting and add that additional charges are pending in this case.
