Student arrested for stealing iPad from classroom of accused teacher

On April 24, 2013 a teacher at Selma High reported that on the morning of April 23, 2013 a student identified as Kennith Dewayne Jones age 19 came to her classroom and  removed an Apple I-PAD from her classroom. (This was the classroom of Ms.  Latanglia Williams.)  The teacher was suspicious of the claims that the item belonged to Mr. Jones and that someone had sent him to get it, so she notified school authorities.  It was learned that I-Pad was actually the property of the school. On April 24, 2013, Mr. Jones was questioned by School Authority regarding the whereabouts of the I-Pad. The I-Pad was recovered and Mr. Jones was taken into custody and charged with the following:

On April 24, 2013 The Selma Narcotic Unit received information from a local doctors office that a prescription pad was stolen. During the investigation of this crime, Narcotic Detectives learned that an individual went to a local drug store and tried to have a prescription filled for (Lora Tabs) from the stolen prescription pad. This incident took place on April 10, 2013. During the investigation of this incident, Shantall Coleman was identified as a suspect.  Detectives interviewed Shantall Coleman in reference to the incident. Ms. Coleman acknowledged to detectives that she taken the prescription pad without the doctors permission ad forged the doctors name in an attempt to get some Lora tabs to sell and make money.

Shantall Coleman was arrested for : Forgery 1st Degree and Attempt to Commit Control Substance Crime

Total Bond: $45,000.00

SELMA, AL - On April 24, 2013 the Selma Narcotic Unit received anonymous information of possible drug activity in the 800 block of Roosevelt Avenue. 

During the investigation of the information detectives executed a search warrant at 806 Roosevelt Avenue.

During the search of the address detectives recovered 12 pounds of packaged marijuana worth $18,000.

From the investigation Curtis Hall age 42 of Selma, Alabama and Christopher Lee Singleton age 37 of Miami, Florida were arrested on trafficking marijuana charges.

Man arrested in connection with multiple burglaries

On April 8, 2013, Jamarro Marshaye Bolden was arrested for a recent Burglary 3rd Degree that occurred on March 31, 2013 at 701 Roosevelt Avenue (Dollar General). From interviews with police detectives and reviewing additional information and evidence, The suspect Mr. Bolden was charged with two other burglaries that occurred at the Dollar General Store (701 Roosevelt Avenue) on the dates of January 23, 2013 and March 18, 2013. Mr. Bolden was also charged with a burglary that occurred at Calhoun’s Foods located at 415 JL Chestnut Blvd on February 10, 2013.

Additional arrest made in Selma neighborhood shootout

SELMA, AL (WSFA) - Three out of the five men wanted in connection with a shootout in a Selma neighborhood are now behind bars.

Police originally arrested Ernest Bernard Gunn and Theodore Thespian Stallworth and charged them with attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle. These charges stem from an incident where a group of men got into an argument around 6 p.m. on March 20 to the 2300 block of Hardie Avenue after an argument allegedly led to five men shooting in the neighborhood.

Selma PD now says a third suspect, 25-year-old Kenyada Dukes has also been arrested for attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle. He is being held at the Dallas County Jail on bonds totaling $2.7 Million.

Selma PD arrests man for attempted murder, counterfeit money charges

On 04-01-2013(Monday), at 7:40p.m., Justin Lanyette Simpson, black/male, age 25, of Selma,Al., turned himself in at the Selma Police Dept. on three felony charges. The  charges stems from a shooting which occurred in the 600 blk. of Broad St. Selma,Al. on 03-29-2013(Friday), around 7:30p.m., whereas a vehicle was shot into multiple times by gunshots. The vehicle was occupied at the time by the intended target. During the gunshots, at least one(1) round struck another vehicle which was traveling north on Broad St. and was occupied by two(2) citizens of Selma,Al. at the time. No one was injured during the shooting. Justin Lanyette Simpson was charged with Attempted Murder and two(2) counts of Discharging a firearm into an Occupied Vehicle. Prior to the shooting incident, Justin Simpson was being investigated by the Selma Police Dept. for presenting counterfeit currency to a business in the 600 blk. of Highland Ave. Selma,Al.
